भारत के रेत कलाकार एवं पद्मश्री सुदर्शन पटनायक को रेत कलाकृति -2014 विश्व कप प्रतियोगिता में उनके काम ‘वृक्ष बचाएं भविष्य बचाएं’ के लिए ‘पीपुल्स च्वॉइस’ पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया.  रेत कलाकृति -2014 विश्व कप प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन अमेरिका के अटलांटिक सिटी में किया गया. अटलांटिक सिटी के मेयर ने सुदर्शन पटनायक को ‘पीपुल्स च्वाइस’ का पदक प्रदान किया. यह अमेरिका की ‘पहली यूएसए 2014 रेत कलाकृति विश्व कप प्रतियोगिता है. इस समारोह में विश्वभर के 20 रेत शिल्पकारों ने हिस्सा लिया था. 19 जून 2014 को शुरू हुई इस प्रतियोगिता के तहत, सभी शिल्पकारों को 10 टन बालू से 30 घंटे में अपनी कलाकृति बनानी थी. सुदर्शन पटनायक ने अमेरिका के शिल्पकार मैथ्यू रॉय डैबर्ट के साथ मिलकर इस प्रतियोगिता के युगल वर्ग में भी हिस्सा लिया. दोनों ने मिलकर ताजमहल बनाया. इस प्रतियोगिता में वह पांचवें स्थान पर रहे. सुदर्शन पटनायक को भारत सरकार ने वर्ष 2014 में पद्मश्री से सम्मानित किया.
